Editors trial·Live demo·MIT
canvas-editor, live.
This is canvas-editor's own code, built from commit 1865c9b063def06a36ba27151a781d4893fca076, the one the trial measured. It runs entirely in your browser: nothing you open or type leaves this page. The document is a sanitized copy of the trial's fixture, so it opens everywhere. The scores come from the unsanitized original (fixture/complex.docx).
What the sanitized copy leaves out (4)
- the altChunk (word/afchunk.html, an HTML part) is replaced by 2 ordinary paragraphs with the same text. an altChunk asks the consumer to import foreign HTML; most browser editors drop or reject it.
- the OLE-embedded document (word/embeddings/embedded1.docx) is replaced by the icon picture Word shows for it. an embedded OLE package is an opaque binary a browser editor cannot open.
- the enforced read-only lock (w:documentProtection w:edit="readOnly" in word/settings.xml) is lifted. an editor that honours the lock, as Word does, would not let a visitor type in the demo.
- 1 table cell(s) marked as the continuation of a vertical merge with no merge above them become ordinary cells. the editor drops such a cell, the row comes up a column short and its table layout fails.
